Items that are accepted include:
- household paints, stains, dyes
- floor care items, furniture polish, bathroom cleaners
- lawn and garden chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers
- antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline
- automotive batteries, dry cell batteries, propane tanks
- old computers, printers, scanners, TV’s, cell phones, fax machines
- mercury containing thermometers, thermostats and elemental mercury
- fluorescent light bulbs (standard and compact)
- smoke detectors, fire extinguishers
- Pharmaceutical Waste (Non -controlled Substances only)
- CRT televisions and monitors
Items that are not accepted include:
- commercial waste, industrial waste
- ammunition, explosives
- 55-gallon drums
- radioactive materials
- unknown, unlabeled waste
- shock sensitive materials
- household trash
- appliances
Residents are encouraged to bring in mercury fever thermometers for disposal. Mercury is a toxic substance and can cause serious health effects if released into a home or the environment. For more information, please contact Wayne County’s Resource Recovery Coordinator at (734) 326-3936.

Hot rodders, classic car, vintage, modern muscle, tuners, exotics, and tricked-out car enthusiasts and spectators from throughout Southeast Michigan converge on Telegraph Road between Eureka Rd and Puritan Rd.
The annual cruise takes place on the fourth Saturday of July each year. Many cars and crowds will also gather the evening before for an unofficial kickoff.
Official event hours are from 9 am to 9 pm, spanning the communities of Taylor, Dearborn Heights, and Redford Township.
*Please be considerate and clean up after yourself. Please encourage those with you to do the same. Let’s be courteous to those that live along the cruise route*

The Running To Honor 5K is a timed, family friendly walk (or run) focused on keeping the memory of our Fallen Soldiers & Veterans alive and reminding others that Freedom is never free.

About The Race
The Running To Honor 5K is a timed, family friendly walk (or run) focused on keeping the memory of our Fallen Soldiers & Veterans alive and reminding others that Freedom is never free. The event will take place on Saturday, July 30th, 2022 inside Heritage Park located at 12111 Pardee Rd, Taylor, MI 48180. The start time of the 5K & 1 Mile-ish walk (or run) is 8:00 AM in front of the Sheridan Pavilion. The Kids .5K will start at 7:30 AM.

Next sale dates
The City of Taylor will again offer two Citywide Garage Sale periods in 2022. The first will be from May 27-June 5, and the second from August 19-28. Each of these periods will enable participants to have two full weekends of garage sales, should weather be a problem during one of the weekends. No permit is required to hold your garage sale during these dates only.
Take note of the following:
- Residents hosting sales should hold them in relatively open areas
- Residents hosting sales on their property should provide disposal containers, lined in plastic bags, that can be easily sealed and disposed of, during and after their events
- Keep any advertising signage for your sale out of public right-of-ways, or easements.
After the sales
When any citywide rummage sale ends, unwanted items can be disposed of at the Taylor Hills Transfer Station and Compost Site at 16300 Racho Road Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Residents will be required to use any available free dump privileges or pay the cost to dispose of any unwanted items. No commercial dumping is permitted. No explosives, autos and auto parts, boats, concrete, hazardous waste, compost materials, tree branches, or tires will be accepted.
