Please check back for updates as the marathon weekend approaches.
Location – The 2023 course will be on and near the east Detroit riverfront. Location and course route is subject to change, so check back here as we get closer to race weekend for the most accurate location details.

The 2023 Marathon route includes some of the most dramatic improvements to the course in the race’s 45-year history. We’re back again to running internationally in 2023 and we’ve kept the additions of Detroit features like the Woodbridge neighborhood, the District Detroit, Eastern Market, the Dequindre Cut and a finish line at the foot of Campus Martius. (All courses will require municipal approval and USATF measurement.)
With a wave start, participants are sent off at three-minute intervals beginning at 7 a.m., which eases congestion in those early miles. Groups are based on the projected pace indicated on the registration form, so an accurate response is necessary.
The Marathon map PDF is here. The Marathon turn-by-turn instructions are here.
You must be able to complete the marathon in 6.5 hours from the time the Last Chance Pacer crosses the start line. We will close the marathon finish line at 2 p.m., with roads incrementally opening along the course up to the 2 p.m. cutoff.
The pacer will travel at the average pace needed to cross the finish line at six and a half hours. Your progress will be monitored throughout the race. If you fall significantly behind the pacer, you will be given fair warning to pick up the pace. If you can’t keep pace, you will be required to board a bus following the pacers to be transported back to the Start/Finish area. We are currently in the process of organizing our pace teams for the 2023 event. More details coming soon.

The Strategic Staffing Solutions Turkey Trot kick off America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White.
The S3 Turkey Trot has been a tradition in Detroit for the past thirty-nine years. Much more than a variety of races (10k/5k/1 mile and combo events), thousands of participants dress in costumes for the event. Often declared “The Parade before The Parade”, participants frolic by the largest spectator crowd in Michigan. Truly an awesome way to start Thanksgiving Day!
