Driving the dykes at Pointe Mouillee for a morning of late summer birding  – register herehttps://tinyurl.com/p9neren8

Join Detroit Bird Alliance expert birders Jim Fowler and Jim Bull for a great morning of birding at one of our most popular field trips of the year– driving the dykes at Pointe Mouillee State Game Area. Five vehicles will be allowed to drive out onto the dykes, so whoever volunteers to drive will be asked to take other attendees in their vehicles. Another option is that you could bring your bike and follow the car caravan on the dykes. Please indicate which mode of transportation you will use when you sign up.

Pointe Mouillee is a significant waterfowl habitat and one of the largest freshwater marsh restoration projects in North America, encompassing 7,483 acres of wetlands and open water. Adding to the magic of Pointe Mouillee is the fact that it lies within the Atlantic and Mississippi flyways bringing numerous migrating species of birds to rest and refuel.

You could see White Pelicans, Redheads, Scaups, Gadwalls, Common Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Northern Pintails, Northern Shovelers and other waterfowl.

Meeting Location: We will meet in the Sigler Road parking lot for Pointe Mouillee State Game Area.

Please note there are no bathrooms.
