Fireworks are a favorite tradition in Downriver, from the big Fourth of July shows in cities like Riverview, Trenton, and Taylor to the festive winter displays that brighten the Christmas season. Summer brings bold, colorful celebrations, while December events—such as holiday festivals and tree lightings—add magical bursts of light to the cold night sky. From warm weather to winter holidays, Downriver fireworks keep the community glowing all year long.

Nov19Thu2026 Westland Wayne County Lightfest Grand Opening @ Merriman Hollow Park Nov 19 @ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm 
The Wayne County Lightfest is a magical five-mile stretch of Hines Park, displaying nearly 50 animated themed displays and more than 100,000 lights.
Thursday, November 19th starting at 6:00 PM. We will have refreshments, music, fireworks, Santa Claus and more!
Admission to the Lightfest will be free of charge from 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM for the attendees of the LIGHTS ON Ceremony.
Nov21Sat2026 Kick off the holiday season with us as we light up the town! Enjoy a live band, hot chocolate, and holiday cheer as we count down to the magical moment our Christmas Tree sparkles to life. Bring your family and friends for an evening full of joy, laughter, and community spirit!
November 21st, Tree Lighting event will include:
- Visit With Santa
- Toy Train Rides
- Hayrides
- Petting Farm
- Bonfires & Heated Tent
- Food Trucks
- Hot Chocolate & Bake Sale by Girl Scout Troop 77915
- Concert – Atomic Radio: 6:30-8:30 PM
- American Legion Post 389 Beer Tent: 5-9PM
- TREE LIGHTING: 8:45 PM
- Fireworks: 9 PM
Admission is FREE! There will also be a FREE parking shuttle between Young Patriot’s Park and the Golf Course from 5pm-end of the event.
Dec5Sat2026 Taylor Winterfest Celebration – Parade – Fireworks @ Heritage Park - Sheridan Pavilion Dec 5 @ 5:00 pm The Winterfest Celebration continues after the Goodfellows run later in the day with a parade, music, holiday characters, refreshments and food will be available at the pavilion, where everyone gathers around the City’s official 40-foot Christmas tree.
Look for Mayor Tim Woolley to introduce Santa and Mrs. Claus and then light the tree. Fireworks will be on display over the park.

The Big Bang Fireworks display starts at 10 PM – come on out and enjoy your summer evening under the lights….
