Wisteria: Rocking Downriver and Beyond Since 2004
Founded in 2004 by Southgate native Teri Wallace, Wisteria is a female-fronted rock band from the Downriver area with a deep appreciation for classic rock and the artists who shaped generations of music lovers. Teri has been singing in rock bands since the early 1990s and grew up in a very musical family with strong ties to music and theatre, an upbringing that helped shape her passion for performing and storytelling through song. From an early age, she aspired to one day put together a band of her own.
That dream became a reality when Teri brought together a group of incredibly talented Downriver musicians, and she remains deeply grateful—and feels truly blessed—to share the stage with them.
Wisteria is powered by the musicianship and vocals of Teri Wallace, Chris Wallace, Terry Cook, Adam Bedikian, Jon Howard, and David Swiecki, whose talent, dedication, and chemistry have helped define the band’s sound and long-standing success. Together, they deliver high-energy performances that blend rock, pop, and dance influences, creating shows that keep audiences engaged, singing along, and dancing.
Influenced by iconic artists such as Blondie, Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, and Janis Joplin, Wisteria performs music spanning the 1960s through today, offering both faithful and unique interpretations of beloved songs that resonate across generations.
In 2017, Wisteria was honored to win WCSX’s Rockin’ Wars, a milestone achievement that stands as a proud moment in the band’s journey. Over the years, they have also been grateful for the opportunity to open for national artists, including Everclear, The Guess Who, Candlebox, The Detroit Cobras, and Mitch Ryder, further solidifying their place in the local and regional music scene.
The band also proudly recognizes longtime members of the Wisteria family, Jay Minger, Bruce Cady, and Dave Baker of Wyandotte, who have always been—and always will be—an important part of the band’s success and story.
Wisteria continues to bring passion, professionalism, and a strong sense of community to every performance. A live Wisteria show is more than just music—it’s a celebration of local talent, shared history, and the joy of rock and roll.
PRO TIP: Prepare yourself when they rock out “White Room” by Cream. Your ears will thank you!
